Everyone knows the Y as a place to camp, swim, or exercise, but we’re so much more. The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We’re a spirit, a movement and a cause. We’re working side-by-side with our neighbors to address critical community needs that help kids develop into smart, resilient adults, for people to improve their health and build a sense of community, and for our most vulnerable young people to get the care and support they need.
Founded in 1877, the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing has long been a part of the Lansing community. From the very start, listening and responding to our communities’ most critical social needs has been a part of the Y’s core values. We’ve grown from a small association holding meetings where it could to a strong organization of more than 12,000 members across 5 branches.
