Dear Mystic Lake YMCA Camp Families: Greetings from Mystic Lake YMCA Camp! I hope that this letter finds you healthy and safe. For 95 years we have spent this time of year anxiously awaiting the arrival of our counselors with campers soon to follow, but the approach to this summer finds us in uncertain and challenging times.
Although it has been our hope and intent to operate our summer camp as we always have, we realize that adjustments may need to be made to our programs and schedules to keep our campers, staff and community safe. It is not clear exactly what those changes may be but we continue to work through scenarios based upon feedback from parents and recommendations from the CDC and State of Michigan Health officials.
At this time we have suspended camp registrations until we can provide a definitive path forward to our families. We will be sending and posting another update about the status of summer camp programs sometime later in May. The American Camp Association and the CDC have partnered to provide specific recommendations and guidelines for both summer day and overnight camps and those guidelines are scheduled to be available later in May,
Once we review these recommendations we will update our camp families with our next course of action. As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we feel that one of the most important things we can do right now is to remain adaptive and flexible. We anticipate that our specific plans will come into focus as we get closer to camp. We will let you know as soon as possible as new information becomes available that changes programs or schedules.
We look forward to seeing you again!
